PAINTING THE TOWN RED WITH ESSIE NAIL POLISH

Oh summer 2020, what an experience it has been. Typically (on an average year), I love this glorious season and the beautiful aesthetics that come with it, but the notion of having to give up what would have been my usual ‘summer of choice’ just seems to be outstaying its welcome. So, with that being said, I’m ready to welcome in a new optimistic wave of change, beginning with autumn 2020.

Just picture it, I’m dreaming of the chunkiest knitwear, cosy coffee shop dates, that fresh layer of morning mist and the intense autumnal rays that peer through the clouds in the hours that follow. The thought of crunchy leaves under foot, cinnamon infused baked goods and beverages, heavily scented candles, snugly bobble hats and colourful naturistic walks are filling my brain. So, while I lie and wait for the weather to embrace the newest of chapters, my style will be undergoing a gradual transition as it does every year, as the seasons of summer and autumn intertwine.

As we edge towards the month of September, hues of light blue, pink, green, yellow and turquoise are slowly transitioning into deeper and richer colour-tones of choice such as; cream, beige, gold, burgundy, mustard, burnt orange, brown and of course black.

But right now, as we’re in the middle of a heatwave, it is much easier to incorporate the above autumnal tones into a range of accessories as opposed to a selection of outfits when it feels like a million degrees outside. Luckily, I’ve found a compromise that will enable my outfits of choice to reflect the remainder of season we’re in, whilst welcoming the very first glimpses of the colours of autumn within this particular collection of

ESSIE’S STORY

For over 35 years, Essie has provided authority over colour and leadership in nail luxury. Committed to high-quality standards with an award-winning line of nail polish collections and nail-care products, anyone who has so much as painted their nails will know that Essie is the go-to brand for flawless results. Aside from that fact that Essie nail varnishes are a beloved beauty product that can be found within many makeup drawers around the world, salon professionals, beauty lovers, industry insiders, celebrities and fashion icons also adore Essie nail polishes as much the girl next door.

Essie’s journey began as a brand back in 1981 with Essie Weingarten, and today, the ever-growing collection of Essie nail varnishes continue to delight the colour-obsessed with a love shared all over the world. It’s clear that Essie has stolen the limelight in the nail product world, as its nail-care products and brand name appear globally on runways, offering highly anticipated collections and colour releases that drive trends and provide style inspiration season after season.

ABOUT ESSIE NAIL VARNISH

From the original, the beloved and the iconic enamel collection of Essie nail varnishes, the vast range of colour combinations offer a finish which gives a subtle nod to perfection, with shade names that carry that Essie wit and charm that many of us know and love. I specifically adore shade ‘50 Bordeaux’, as it’s the perfect lacquer to slip onto your nails and to inject an intense feel of elegance into your style for the upcoming season. This deep red wine nail polish uncorks a positively intoxicating manicure, which is why it is my shade of choice within this Essie nail polish review.

The Essie enamel nail varnish collection as a whole offers an extensive colour palette with hundreds of tones to choose from. The shade ‘50 Bordeaux’ provides a high gloss shine and finish, alongside a flawless coverage and outstanding durability with every application. Upon multiple usage of this particular Essie nail varnish I have found there to be more beneficial attributes than just one:

Application: Firstly, the applicator is by far the BEST nail polish brush that I have ever used. It is such a comfortable and easy process to apply the product to your nails with this applicator. For me personally, I think that the width and the length of the bristles is what makes the applicator a real winner here. See, it covers a fair portion of the nail in one smooth stroke, reducing the further number of strokes that one nail may require. As you can imagine, this makes the likelihood of clumping almost impossible, allowing the product to dry at one smooth rate.

Dry Time: So, onto my second point, this particular nail varnish is fast drying and this is something which I actually look for when purchasing nail polishes in general. Personally, I tend to paint my nails myself in the comfort of my own home. So naturally, I want the task to be fairly quick and simple and that’s exactly what you’ll get with this Essie nail varnishes. Have you got three minutes? That’s all it takes for one coat to dry completely, it’s really fast and convenient as a process.

Finish: I personally find the finish of a nail polish to be just as important as the results of the product’s application. Let’s face it, who’d want a nail varnish that applies with a streaky appearance and chips away within a number of days after application? All of that effort would ha e been wasted. We’ve all been there at some point or another, but luckily with Essie nail varnishes you’ll never have to worry about the end results of a manicure again. I’m talking ultra-glossy shine, intense colour pigmentation and a formula which I have found to be extremely chip resistant over many uses.

So, there you have it, shade ‘50 Bordeaux has allowed me to embrace the earthy colour-tones of autumn at the centre of my style, while providing the perfect manicure that will last until I decide to change my go-to colourway. Plus, it’s always nice to have the appearance of product acting in favour of its appeal and I have to say that I adore how the glass bottle is embossed with the brand name ‘Essie’. They stand out significantly against other high-street nail products and I have found this particular shade to be rather flattering on my summer skin-tone, against the contrast of my hair.

To achieve the desired effect of a rich Merlot tone as pictured within this article, I’d recommend applying three coats of this particular Essie

Have you tried

or any of the other nail varnishes by Essie before? What are your thoughts on this brand and their products?
